My book tells a true story of everyday life, love, and chasing a dream, when the principal character leaves the comfort of home and heads west for the 1849 California Gold-Rush. The details are in his diary, which was found in the attic of my childhood home a century after he wrote it. I inserted among his diary entries additional background and explanations of his accounts as well as occurrences elsewhere in the world during the time he was writing; 1845-1850.
