"Our House Our Heritage"

The Campus DU house now has a piece of  30 Elm Street Legacy hung up in the lane entrance hallway.

To the left is a photo of the recently hung Lambda Crest painted by my little brother Bob Wallace, Class of 85, in the Sophmore Tower of 30 Elm. I cut it out just prior to sale. Some of the guys and my son then mounted the sheetrock on plywood and using the frame that  originally encased it in at 30 Elm, framed the plexiglass we used to cover the Crest.

A piece of our original home,

"Our House Our Heritage" (Brother Ernie Reap) is now in its rightful place for all of us to be proud of and for everyone to see as they enter our new house.

Bruce Schwendy To Deliver Talk On Development And History of the Erie Canal

“The Three Erie Canals: History and Folklore” will be speaker Bruce Schwendy’s topic at 7 p.m. on Jan. 16 at the Fairport Public Library, 1 Fairport Village Landing.

New York’s Erie Canal went through three eras: the original canal “Clinton’s Ditch” completed in 1825, the enlarged canal completed in 1862 and today’s barge canal system that was completed in 1918. Schwendy, a member of the board of directors of the Canal Society of New York, will discuss the folklore of the Erie Canal and some common misconceptions about its history. He will also demonstrate some actual canal horns and explain how they were used for signaling on the early canals.

A graduate of Clarkson University, Schwendy is retired from General Motors where he was a manufacturing engineer. He has studied New York State canal history for many years and enjoys traveling with his wife, Donna, the length of the New York canal system on their 40-foot houseboat, the Li’l Rooster.
