Bob Mercurio '85

Whitesboro, NY

Mr. Robert M. Bob Mercurio, 46, died as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident while on a business trip in Henniker, NH, on Thursday, September 24, 2009. Robert was born in Utica, NY, December 21, 1962, a son of Lawrence F. Mercurio and the late Jean Marie (Paravati) Mercurio. Bob was educated in New Hartford, graduating from New Hartford High School in 1981. During high school, Bob played for the New Hartford Hockey Team and was a member of the Spartan Marching Band. Continuing his education, Bob attended Clarkson University, where he received his Bachelors Degree in Industrial Distribution Engineering and was president of his fraternity, Delta Upsilon. On April 20, 1991, Bob was joined in marriage to the former Patricia A. Booth. Bob and Pat have enjoyed eighteen beautiful years together. Mr. Mercurio was employed as a District Sales Engineer for the Danaher Corporation, a Linear Motion Company. Bobs life revolved around his family and his community. His dedication to the youth of the Whitestown area is unrivaled. He was involved in all levels of youth sports, including the Whitestown Youth Association Board of Directors, the current president of the Senior Girls Softball League, past president of the Junior Girls Softball League and of the Whitestown Youth Hockey Association. He was a coach for baseball, softball, hockey, and football in Whitesboro. His commitment to not only his children, but all the children of the area is a legacy his family can treasure for a lifetime. He is survived by his beloved wife, Pat; his daughter, Margaret Maggie Mercurio, and his son, John Jack Mercurio, both at home, and his step-son, Christopher Bowen of Philadelphia, PA;
