Charles "Chuck" Trowbridge '62
March 12, 2022
It is with sadness that we report the passing of Chuck Trowbridge. Chuck was survived by his loving wife and best friend of 65 years, Kathy; his daughter, Kristine Budill and grandchildren, Jack Budill and Cassie Budill. Predeceased by his mother, Pauline Trowbridge; father, Lonnie Trowbridge.
Chuck was a graduate of Southwestern Central High School in Lakewood, NY, and received a BS in Chemical Engineering from Clarkson University and a MBA from the Simon School of Business at the University of Rochester.
Chuck started as a Product Development Engineer in the Paper Manufacturing Division of Eastman Kodak. He had numerous marketing assignments in the Recordak Corporation, Business Systems Division and Customer Equipment Services Division. He was selected as one of the original Line of Business Managers serving as the first General Manager and Vice President of the Copy Products Division.
After retiring with 30 years of Kodak service, Chuck continued to be very active at his beloved Clarkson serving as Chair of two successful Capital Campaigns and as a long term member of the Board of Trustees. He holds a Clarkson Honorary Degree and was named a Trustee Emeritus in 2004.
Chuck loved to travel with Kathy and enjoyed spending time with family and friends at his summer home on Martha’s Vineyard.
The DU Brotherhood owes a debt of gratitude to Chuck’s work and dedication in making our Campus House a reality. The current Theme House stands second to none as the best student residence on campus largely because of his leadership in a very successful fundraising drive. Chuck was also very active in initially recruiting the men of the rechartering “Founding Fathers” class, standing for long hours in the Student Center talking to any young man who would pass by. For many of us, it is hard to look at the new house without thinking of Chuck. Chuck will always be remembered for his genuine friendship as well as his leadership. He will be greatly missed.
